April 10th -13th: Fourth Annual Pool Tournament
Nine-ball, Jack & Jill, singles and couples tournaments, plus our annual raffles for Toys for Tots and potluck. All this fun will be at the adult lodge.
May 11th: Mother’s Day
Free pancake breakfast at the Smokehouse for all moms.
May 23rd - 26th: Memorial Day Weekend
Friday 23rd - Annual grand reopening of our family pool—horseback riding, dances and water log rolling are some of the things to do, along with Soledad’s traditional chicken dance, YMCA and many more.

Family dance with the Ray Caster rock ’n’ roll country band. S.O.S. DJ Entertainment will host our teen dance.
Sunday, 25th - The always popular family dance with the Exit West Band and the unforgettable S.O.S. DJ Entertainment hosting our teen dance.

May 31st: Inaugural Toys for Tots 5K walk/run kickoff
J
oin us and run/Walk the Trails for a good cause. With a new unwrapped toy or a $5.00 suggested donation we can sign you up. We have invited the Air Force, Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Young Marines and local R.O.T.C. to come and join us. After the run/walk stay and visit with us and spend a great afternoon of fun with family and friends. Swimming, basketball, fishing and horseback riding are just to name a few events happening here at Soledad. Stay till nightfall and join us at our marshmallow roast and a great Saturday night family dance with The S.O.S. DJ. Entertainment.
June 7th - 8th: Fifth Annual Civil War Weekend
Annual Civil War reenactment with soldiers and encampments from the North and the South and in between. Setup will begin Friday night, with the first battle set for Saturday morning. Military and civilian vendors, hospital, chapel, renegade troops and civilian encampments will be set up along our wading ponds on the West End road leading to our Horse Ranch western town. We plan on having a fashion show, ladies’ tea social, and a gambling hall Saturday Night. A traditional family dance of that era is scheduled Saturday evening in the family lodge dance hall. June 14th -15th: Father’s Day Weekend
Sunday’s pancake breakfast is free to all dads.
June 21st: Class of 2008 Graduation Weekend
Congratulations class of 2008! High school, College and University pride is our main goal this weekend. Tournaments in swimming, and water rolling log, basketball, corn & watermelon eating contests are scheduled. So come and represent you school and then come to the family dance at our family patio to party before you go off to college.
June 28th: Native American Weekend
Come and find out what Native Americans have contributed to our American culture. Poetry, storytelling, dance, art and crafts. Our cinema will be showing movies with Native American themes such as “Flags of our Fathers,” “Dances with Wolves,” “500 Nations” and “Squanto.”
Fourth of July Weekend
Dancing the Y.M.C.A., Chicken Dance, Hands up and the Hokey Pokey at pool side will be some of the dancing going on. Horseback riding, hammer strike, water rolling log are just a few of the activities, tournaments in basketball, horseshoes, volleyball and pool games are scheduled on this long weekend. A family dance has been scheduled
Friday the 4th with the Ray Caster Band, great Rock “n” Roll music for all.

As always our parade entry will be very patriotic with participation of The Marines, Young Marines, Boy Scouts and our local R.O.T.C... On board our float entry the Marines will be presenting the famous Marine stand of Iwo Jima. Meet in front of Family Lodge at 7:30 a.m. if you would like to be a part of this annual event.
Fireworks display.
Our annual fireworks display car caravan is scheduled to depart Soledad at 5:00 P.M. on its destination to Palmdale High School (about 15 minutes from Soledad). Gates open at 5:00 P.M... Firework display is at dusk around 9:00 P.M.
Saturday 5th - A great dance off to close out this weekend has been planned.
The Exit West Band will host our family country and western dance. For the young at heart we will have The S.O.S. DJ Entertainment.
July 12th: Western Weekend
Soledad’s Horse Ranch will be the main focus this weekend. Activities such as horseback riding, cowboy poetry, crafts, storytelling, western games, sell & trade and Market Place are just a few of the highlights. Our wrangler, Jerry and his wild bunch will have western shows throughout the weekend. They are a crazy bunch of “Desperados” that love gun shooting, horse riding and crazy stunts.
Ranger Frank and his wild animals will educate us of our local high dessert wild plants and wild life.
July 19th: ‘50s Rock ‘n’ Roll Weekend
Pony tails, crew cuts, poodle skirts, leather & letterman jackets, penny loafers and bobby socks are just some of the things the kids are wearing when the T-bird and the Pink Ladies get together to dance off with The Exit West Band. The Bunny Hop and The Twist are just some of the dances that you could compete in at our 50’s dance-a-thon. The S.O.S. DJ Entertainment will keep the younger or young at heart crowed busy outside on our patio with dances like the Cha Cha Slide and so on.
July 26th: Mardi Gras Weekend
Ranger Frank and his Animals will make a special presentation that evening. Make carnival masks at craft class so we can wear them at the dance later that night. Collect beads throughout the day when you are challenged to various games, dares and fun activities by our Recreation staff.
August 2nd: Luau Weekend
Soledad’s annual Luau is and will continue to be one of the most popular events here at Soledad. Jesse’s Rec-Crew Dances Review and the Tamali’is Dance Company with Brandon the fire dancer always a favorite. Make your reservation early-this weekend gets busy but fun is had by all that have been here that weekend. A great family dance with The S.O.S. Dj Entertainment is scheduled that night to close out the evening.
August 9th: Country Weekend
Country fun and games. Ranger Frank and animal friends will inform us on our local wildlife.
August 16th: Pirates Weekend
Pirates have wondered onto Soledad and they plan on taking over turning our park into a wild ride of games and tournaments. No rules just fun. Don’t lose to the pirates because then you’ll be walking the plank on our water log rolling log. Ranger Frank will bring a great collection of native animals from our high desert.
August 23rd: Toys for Tots 5k Walk/Run
Toy Drive
Run or “Walk the Trails” at Soledad’s newest trails.
Come run/walk for a great cause all the toys collected stay in our Antelope Valley. Make a difference bring a new unwrapped toy for our toy drive and spend the day at the preserve with family and friends. The award ceremony will be on our Family Lodge Patio right after the last participant has crossed the finish line. Come dance under the stars with the ultimate dance machine The S.O.S. DJ Entertainment.
August 30th - September 1st: Labor Day Weekend
Horseback riding, fishing, dancing, crafts, relaxing and fun times are scheduled. Family dances all weekend long. Adult, teen and family tourneys in Pool, horseshoe, basketball and Volleyball. Games, contests, marshmallow roast, water rolling log, movies, and crafts for all. Close to local attractions don’t forget the fish pond is stocked. Family dances.

Saturday October 4th: ClubBlazer Day
A day full of activities, crafts, coloring contest, scavenger hunts, movies, walks and talks for the protection of our environment.
We have invited a special honor guest Roy “Hurricane” Wilson is scheduled to perform here at Soledad Canyon Preserve for our special day devoted to our club Blazer members and the environment.
Known for his electric blues guitar Roger “Hurricane”Wilson takes you on a introspective and emotional trip of American & folk and country music. Our theme song for our Club Blazer was composed by him.

October 25th: Halloween Weekend
Come and check out Soledad’s Annual haunted western horse town and Indian Village. Our traditional contests are in full swing with pumpkin carving, costume contests for all 0-5, 6-12 and 13-113. Trick or Treat around the preserve or pass out candy either way this is an activity that all members love to participate in.
Members will learn and observe up close local nocturnal wild life animals with Ranger Frank and His Company F.A.W.N. (Families, Animals with Nature).
Jonathan the Great Magic show and The S.O.S. DJ entertainment makes Soledad the place to be.

Saturday 20th Annual Members Christmas for Children Toys for Tots Celebration. Come together and celebrate with us the reason for the season. We have an array of great talent scheduled for you that magical evening.

December 31st: New Year’s Eve Dance
“Hollywood Stars” The Golden Era of Hollywood comes alive again at Soledad. New Years Eve brings a cluster of stars to Soledad’s biggest dance extravaganza. The Ray Caster Band is our musical host with the best Country, Rock and Roll Band in the high desert. As always New Years Eve at Soledad is filled with magic and the best in dance and entertainment. Don’t forget to sign up and win the title of Thousand Trails Soledad’s King and Queen for 2008. Party favors, champagne, apple cider toast, 50/50 raffles and balloon drop at midnight.
Tuesday January 1: Happy New Year!
Golden Cue Tournament finals. All monthly Golden Cue winners will play–off to find out who will take the title of Soledad’s Golden Cue winner for 2008. Also we will have a potluck and raffles for the Toys for Tots campaign. Enjoy watching The Rose Bowl game and Parade on our TV in the Adult Lodge.
Families may together at the Family Lodge TV lounge and also enjoy in watching these traditional events.
